I spent a wonderful couple of hours with the very lovely @lucyspinkjewellery on Sunday ... the result being some amazing photos ... thankyou Lucy .... lots !!!
This little bad boy is currently being transported to Plymouth ... destination @victoria_sewart_gallery ... where it will be part of their 20th year anniversary exhibition along with around 70 designers who answered the call and agreed to take part.
So how does this piece fit the gallery and Plymouth I hear you say !!! ....
As you may have seen in my earlier posts, next door to the gallery is the oldest bakery in the UK ... @jackabakery. This brooch is the result of the fabulous @racheldarbourne posting me 2 loaves of gorgeous sourdough bread in a box from said bakery ... and then me pouring porcelain slip into it .... before throwing a load of other materials at it ... as is my norm !!
It also turns out that a 20th anniversary is porcelain and emerald is the stone ... so … win win !!! ... (can you spot the emerald in there ????)
Established in the early 16th century, @jackabakery holds the title of the oldest commercial bakery in Great Britain. If you don’t know of this amazing bakery it is located on Southside Street in the Barbican area of Plymouth and has been baking since the 1600’s.
They are said to have supplied the pilgrims who sailed on the Mayflower to America and were there at the time of Drake sailing against the Spanish Armada.
Today, Jacka Bakery continues to delight visitors with its award-winning breads and pastries, making it a beloved landmark in Plymouth .... and if their sourdough is anything to go by then I would definitely visit if you happen to be passing - yum yum !!!
So thankyou so much Victoria for inviting me to be part of what looks to be an amazing exhibition, celebration and achievement ... roll on another 20 years !!!
The exhibition at @victoria_sewart_gallery runs from June 6th to July 4th ... hope to see you there xxx
