some we know,
some we can only guess at ...
and some we can only make up.

The Earth is not perfect,
and Earth is broken ...
but though Fragile, the Earth is strong
and the Earth ... is beautiful ... in all its' fragility.

Rachael Colley is an award winning interdisciplinary artist and senior lecturer in Jewellery and Metalwork at Sheffield Institute of Arts, Sheffield Hallam University.

Her current research brings together jewellery – created predominantly using food waste – and ambiguous artefacts for eating. She invites diners to wear these visceral jewellery pieces whilst consuming food with alternative dining tools.

Lynne Speake is the founder of Precious Collective and a Contemporary Jeweller using found objects.

Based in Cornwall, she has been exhibiting internationally and is challenging what it means to be 'Precious' in the world of Contemporary Jewellery.

There is only the fine thread of wearability that separates jewellery from sculpture and art,
one made to adorn the body one made to adorn the space.
​Yet on its own a piece of jewellery can present as a miniature scale sculpture only when combined with body giving an exciting new perception.

and makers to create meaningful
art and design projects'.

'What we make is about issues that seem to be falling through the cracks of society because we have voices and we
know how to use them'.

An eclectic multi disciplinary show, this exhibition will
be taking place at the historic Villa Bengel,
the gallery of the historic Jacob Bengel 
Art Deco Chain Factory,
which embodies over 130 years of industrial history of
the city of Idar-Oberstein.

A very unique opportunity for exposure not only to the local makers,
but internationally as well since Villa Bengel has developed into a highly regarded venue for contemporary jewellery statements.
