Lynne's creations are often large, sculptural and share a commonality of inventive mark-making.
'My deep love is for colour, texture, pattern, peeling paint
and rusting metal.
I love combining materials and working organically.
I always let my materials lead me to the finished piece.
I never sketch or plan,
I prefer to work intuitively, letting my emotions
and my dreams lead me.
I even sometimes put on my favourite music and dance
at the same time as making ...
this isn't always the safest of ways to work !!'

Art Jewellery / Wearable Sculpture
'In 2017 I discovered Art Jewellery ...
Since my MA I had been playing with a lot of different ways of working and creating dialogue based around environmental issues and consumerism. The word of Art Jewellery captivated and inspired me ... I realised that this was where my fine art (painting) discipline could once again emerge only this time in a three dimensional form. A place where my abstract creations full of texture and dialogue could now be placed on the body, go on new adventures with new conversations. At this point I owe a massive thank you to the very wonderful Zoe Robertson and as a result of her mentoring I was empowered to once more use my inspiration and love of all things corroded. From then on my practice once more became more sculptural and in most cases a little large ... in fact the same in scale as my previous painting practice !!' |
Ceramics:
'My love affair with porcelain paperclay began in 2019.
I never imagined that I would incorporate ceramics into my art practice but after coming across its use within the art jewellery field I started experimenting. Once the experimentation had begun I realised how much I could push this amazing material in terms of form and treatment of surface detail ... I realised that my painterly mark making and application of texture that I had so loved when painting, could once more play its major part in my work. Strangely though for an artist who is obsessed with bright and spectacular colour it is the black through grey to white end of the colour spectrum that I am now obsessed with and an avoidance of colour (unless accidental !!)' |
