Ok so I've decided to keep a bit of a visual diary of what I'm doing !! ... mainly so I'll stick to it and carry through - well that is the plan !!!
After almost 10 years of 24/7 Precious.Collective it feels like the right time to concentrate on my own practice for a wee while ......
So I've closed @precious.collective for a couple of months and am full swing into my own making. It feels very exciting ... and very much needed ....

... and I've realised very soon into the whole retreat thing ... (in fact less than a week) that my practice is definitely VERY eclectic, VERY mixed media and VERY materials led !!!

I went on an amazing experimental glazing course at @clayshedbristol with
Chloe Monks @chloemonks__
'MATERIAL IN MOTION'
Everything was fabulously inspiring and has potentially changed the ceramics led part of my practice ... but not quite yet ...
read on ..... (if you dare !!!)
Now I am not normally a test tile type of maker but I was very good ...and I brought my test tiles with their glaze blobs home to fire in my kiln...
The following happened !!!!! .... I now definitely think I am not a test tile kind of girl ......
Firing 1: Fail as the kiln didn't fire hot enough.
Firing 2: Fail as the kiln melted its own plug
Firing 3: Fail ... it didn't even get as far as being fired as hubby moved the kiln before I could tell him not to move it as my test tiles were inside and so moving it meant that everything rolled around and now I don't know which blob is which !!!!!!
So ... kiln has been re-wired ... plug has been replaced by a bigger more fit for purpose plug .....
I am going to throw the failed glaze blobs on something previously made .....
(They just did not want to be cooked !!! or maybe the Universe is telling me something !!!)
... and I am going to weigh, measure, record and attempt to test tile fire again ...
how hard can it be !!!!! ...
or maybe the kiln gods are telling me that I'm just not a test tile type of girl !!!!!! ...
