Disobedient
I will not conform to what they tell me …
(those rules of jewellery making)
I will not use the materials they expect of me …
(those rules of what is precious or what is not)
I will not look the way or dress the way they want me to …
(those people who decide what is fashionable and what should or should not be worn)
I will not live the way that they tell me I have to.
I will make what I want ...
(whether it sells or doesn't)
I will wear my hair as I want to …
(whether it suits me or it doesn't)
I will wear what I want to when I want to …
(within reason !!)
I will pick up those things that they think are rubbish ...
Those things that they throw away ...
not into bins … (well sometimes)
But …
discarded into the beautiful countryside ...
discarded into the beautiful woods ...
discarded into where we live our lives.
I will pick up ...
things that are rubbish ...
things that are broken ...
things that no longer have a life or a use ...
and …
I will love them ...
I will cherish them ...
I will put things together that aren't meant to go together
and ...
I will confuse people who expect one thing and get another.
Because …
even when I try to listen to my brain and follow my materials down the path of what I think I have designed ...
My creativity is disobedient ...
It chooses things that are totally impractical ...
It chooses things that are far larger then intended ...
It chooses things that may not even be wearable ...
and …
even these things that I find that feed my creativity ...
are disobedient.
They do not lie down ...
They do not go to where they were meant to go ...
Instead …
They go on new adventures ...
They go to new places where they can choose to be disobedient
They are liked by people who are disobedient
(or people that up to now WERE obedient)
but maybe, just maybe ...
They will spread their disobedient magic ...
(and tease the person into joining in with being disobedient)
joining in with wearing what they want to wear ...
joining in with doing what they want to do ...
ignoring the people who say they can't ...
and embracing the thought that maybe ...
just maybe …
THEY CAN !!
